The menopause is very much in the news these days. For the first time ever, it’s being spoken about openly and candidly.
Menopause symptoms can vary wildly
Some women sail through it and others suffer traumatic symptoms. Most women, however, will have some sort of symptoms. These can include hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, anxiety, depression and joint pain.
Hormone replacement therapy has been a real breakthrough in the easing of menopause symptoms. It has many benefits, depending on the type of HRT you use, including increasing collagen production and keeping your skin looking more youthful.
However, there are a number of different types of HRT which can be a little confusing. There is regular synthetic HRT and also bioidentical hormones, which more closely resemble our natural hormones. These, in turn, are divided into body identical hormones (which are regulated and available on the NHS in the UK) and compounded hormones which are unregulated.

I am 70 years old.
I have been on Premarin vaginal cream for three months to help with UTIs.
I have heard one should stop this after three months. Is that correct? And if so can one go back into it a few months later?
Oestradiol 2 (Vagufem) apparently is safer than Oestradiol 1 (Premarin)? Is that so? Is there rather a bio identical cream? I am not taking any progesterone- should I be?
What would you suggest for UTI issues?

I’m so sorry but you’ll need to talk to your doctor about this as I don’t have the answer for this.
What is out there for those who can’t take HRT? Fed up with aches and pains in joints and muscle twinges in back.
GP can’t help.

Well depending on why you can’t take HRT, there are many natural supplements on the market. Rejuvenated do a good one:https://tidd.ly/4jqzSuZ
Thank you so much for sharing, very interesting and a good interview with Dr Shahzadi Harper. As individuals there is no one HRT tablet, cream or patch that fits all. From my experience its a case of trying various methods, tweaking and dealing with side effects. I don’t actually take or try anything now and feel dreadful at times. I know if I found a doctor that truly understood and able to prescribed something safe I would feel so much better. Probably like most women I plough through and push on.
I believe there should be more regular health checks for women at various ages throughout our lives starting late teens. Showing our health pattern and what our optimal running level is. This data would be invaluable for later life.
Thank you and kind regards,
