A great organic facial range

In the world of organic, chemical free, quality skin products we have gone from one extreme to the other. When I made the decision to ditch all my chemical laden products 20 years ago, there was very little choice of natural products. And nothing much to get excited about. I kept thinking there’s a gap in the market here. Oh how I wish I’d acted on that because I was well ahead of the curve. Now the market is pretty saturated with these types of products and the biggest problem is knowing which one to go for. Are the products as natural as they claim? If they are, are they any good? In this high tech world, we expect a lot from a product, and certainly the well known (chemical laden) brands make ever increasing scientific claims. I, however, wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

So a product, for me, should be judged by what it doesn’t contain, what it does contain and the effect on your skin.

Earlier in the year, I got very excited by Green People. Top quality products, made by caring people at a fantastic price.

And now, I’ve got another product crush that I’m seriously impressed with.

Take a bow Balm Balm.  A company which (and this is very unusual) uses 100% organic and natural ingredients. Simple. And they are superb. And the price is staggering low. I’m not talking beauty low, I’m talking supermarket low. I was genuinely gob smacked because I really really love them. Click on the links and you will see that each product is under £10! They’re quite small in size but even so it’s amazing and the oil goes a long way.

They are a family run business and try to also be as green as possible (all packaging is recyclable). They’ve actually been around since 2005 and in 2007 won The Soil Association’s Organic Industry Award for Best Organic Beauty & Bodycare Product. So why on earth have I only just discovered them??

I used their anti-ageing range and it consists of only 3 products (they have other ranges too) but what a fabulous 3 products they are!

Balm Balm - Facial OilFrankincense Light Facial Oil

I am completely in love with this product. I prefer oils and serums to creams as they absorb better and are much more effective. This is very light and my skin just devours it immediately, leaving no greasy or oily residue. However, it is super nourishing. To get an oil this light and yet so nourishing is nothing short of miraculous in my book. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this might be my favourite night product of all time (and also the cheapest!)

Balm Balm - Deep cleansing balmFrankincense Deep Cleansing Balm

This looks thick and gooey and when you apply it, it feels quite grainy. As I was putting it on the first time I wasn’t sure I would like it, but then something amazing happened. It just melted when it came into contact with my skin. The grains disappeared and I was able to smooth it easily across my skin as my make up just dissolved away. I would only use when I have foundation or make up on my face (otherwise I prefer a foaming type cleanser) but my goodness, it was quite fabulous.

Balm Balm - Soothing facial tonicFrankincense Soothing Facial Tonic

This smells wonderful and feels nourishing and soothing. I like to spritz before applying the oil as always better to apply to a moist face. Can also be sprayed on a cotton pad and used as a toner or sprayed on face to freshen up.

Don’t know which part of the country you are in – but if you are ever lost in Kingston upon Thames – do pop in for a coffee and Glenda can take you through our range. We make most of it her and suspect it could be fun for us and hopefully interesting for you. ANYWAY
