And the third episode is all about how I look after my skin. I believe there are a number of things that can help maintain and improve skin and that all of them together help to make a real difference.
COLLAGEN
We start losing collagen in our twenties. By the time we’re 60, we’ve lost 80% of our collagen. This is the reason our skin loses tightness and get’s wrinkles.
I use a two-pronged attack to tackle this:
I consume a daily collagen supplement. The one I love is by Rejuvenated and is a top notch quality product called Collagen Shots.
RETINOLS
I also use skin products that help to boost collagen. The top product for this is retinols. These can be very irritating but the new generation of retinoids are much more gentle. I love the one by DoSe as it’s gentle and very well priced.
ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS
AHA’s are another very effective product for skin. They also help to boost collagen, gently exfoliate and help even out skin tone. However, these too can sometimes be irritating, so the one I use is called Azelaic Acid. It’s very gentle and is non-irritating. DoSe also do a great and well priced version of this.
VITAMIN C
We all know how effective Vitamin C is as a supplement. It’s now also become the ingredient of the moment when it comes to skincare. And with good reason. It helps to brighten the complexion and keeps pigmentation in check. One of the most ageing skin traits in a mature skin, is an uneven skin tone. Vitamin C helps to fade dark spots and even it out. There are two Vitamin C products that I love. One is by DoSe:
Another favourite Vitamin C product is by ARK, a superb skincare range. They combine natural ingredients and herbs with effective active ingredients. They do wonderful serums and my favourite of these is called Radiance. It’s infused with vitamin C and is light but nourishing. I use it day and night underneath my other products:
