Over the last few years, the immense significance of the gut has been more understood. It’s often referred to as the “second brain” as it’s now known to contain as many neurotransmitters as the brain, if not more.
The gut has a significant effect on our mental wellbeing
It also holds great importance for our immunity. If you are prone to getting ill, the gut is the place you need to look at.
A happy, healthy gut makes a happy, healthy person
As I discuss with Kathryn Danzey, the founder of Rejuvenated, there are many diet and lifestyle choices we can make to improve our gut health. There are also some supplements, like probiotics, that can be of great value.
Fermented foods are probiotic and include live yoghurt, sauerkraut and kefir. Greek yoghurt is a firm favourite of mine as it’s also high in protein and is absolutely delicious.
Rejuvenated has a number of products that enhance gut health. It specialises in products with combined herbs and vitamins to help improve all aspects of health, which is why I’m a big fan of theirs.
In the video below we focus on three of their products that are particularly good for the gut:
Immune Complex –
This contains probiotics and beta glucans which help to activate the immune system. It’s absolutely great if you’re fighting a cold or infection and certainly worked for me this winter. It’s also perfect for keeping your immune system ready for action.
Cellular Calm Complex –
This is a top notch product for stress containing nootropics, and helps to alleviate stress and anxiety. Importantly it calms the digestive system and restores a state of balance to the body.
Protein Smoothie
Firstly these are delicious and obviously full of healthy protein. They contain inulin which is a probiotic fibre. Kathryn explains it also helps to break down fat around the organs. This makes a great breakfast or even a snack to satisfy a sweet craving (contains stevia).

Hey Glynis, sorry to hear you have both been poorly. This happened to my mum caring for my dad. Not the same, but I have been taking care of my poorly cat, she is only 2 and cannot breathe. 6 tablets a day. I am not sure if she will be ok. The stress is unreal, they are part of the family, aren’t they? Hoping you both get well soon x
